If you’re going into a nursing home, sometimes nursing homes will not hold the bed for long periods of time, so you might have a one or two-day window. But once again, if you can give me a five-day notice, what we can do is what we call a back-haul, which is almost the equivalent of being on stand-by at the airport. You can get on that flight for half the cost, but you may not get to go at the time that you want to go. So there’s something that we call a back-haul and what we do is we tie in both Medevac flight trips--two trips together, you know i.e. if you’re going from Florida to New York and we have--and I have something else coming down from New York to Florida then you could definitely have some cost savings in both--it’s a win/win situation for everybody because both parties actually get to share on the cost of the fuel.

Ground transportation as well as all other costs are usually included in our quotes. Emergency Air Ambulance will provide you with a written quote that includes all air medical air ambulances costs unless specifically omitted by customer request. When comparing us to others, please request a quote in writing from other vendors for your protection.

We also provide specialized medical staff when needed. For example, when a patient requires a respirator or ventilator, a Respiratory Therapist is required to operate such a device on board the flight. Physicians may also be available upon request, at additional fees for Sky Flight companies.

Many factors determine the final cost of an air ambulance transport. The primary factors being the distance flown, the type of aircraft utilized, and the medical needs of the patient in flight. A Domestic transport of modest distance in a twin engine aircraft could cost as little as $3,000 to $5,000. On the other hand, the cost of a cross country transport of a very critically ill patient in a long range jet would increase significantly. Fortunately, we can minimize air medical companies costs. Through efficient scheduling and special one-way pricing arrangements many clients can see final costs on the lower end of the ranges.

If there’s bad weather prior to a trip taking place, we will know because as part of our pre trip checkout, we check on current and future weather conditions. If possible, we will plan Medevac brokers trip routes that avoid bad weather altogether. We do have the ability to fly over bad weather. If bad weather is going to occur at a landing or takeoff spot, we may delay a trip for the safety of the patient and crew until the weather clears up. If bad weather occurs during the flight, our aircraft are equipped with state of the art radar to avoid weather and we are constantly in contact with coordinators to ensure that our 20 year safety record remains solidly intact.

If we have plane and crew available, we can transport your patient by air ambulance, the same day that you schedule patient transportation aircraft. However, we like to have more time so that our doctor can speak with the patient’s doctor if necessary and that can sometimes take a little time. Commercial escorts require more time because of airline restrictions. Escorts require 48 hours or 72 hours if oxygen is required. Stretcher transports can take from 5 to 7 business days so that the airline can schedule maintenance to take out the seats. If patient transportation aircraft price is potentially an issue and you want back-haul savings, the more time that you can give us on an air ambulance flight, the better chance that we have of connecting it with another flight and saving you a substantial amount of money. When you are comfortable and you’re ready for the flight, give us a call and we’ll set it all up for you.

We accept bank wires, certified checks, money orders, personal checks with credit card backup, American Express, Discover, Master Card or Visa and insurance if verification and approval have been confirmed prior to flight. One of Life Flight Utah flight coordinators can assist in insurance verification and benefits.

We do provide discounts; what we like to call it in this industry is a back-haul. If you have a little bit of flexibility we can definitely reduce your costs sometimes as small as $1,500--sometimes as large as $5,000 really determining--really depending on the two trips and how well they coordinate with each other. And when I say a back-haul, what I mean is when you pay for an air ambulance--essentially you’re paying for a round-trip flight because if the flight leaves from Florida to New York, the aircraft is going to have to return to its base in Florida. Now if we can coordinate life flight transport plane with another family in your similar situation who needs to come from the upper Northeast back down to Florida then you won't be responsible for paying the round-trip flight and what we will then do is pass the savings along to both families.

Our nurses and paramedics have at least five years of experience either in ER or first response to traumas before hiring with us. Then they also go through training to become air certified prior to flying patient escort escorts
