Our fuel stops are coordinated to be fast air ambulance jet operations. We call ahead to let our fuelers know of the important passengers on board. They are waiting for us when we arrive and help to turn around the plane in twenty minutes. Typically that is just enough time for a passenger to go for a needed restroom break.
Since we are a 24 hour Mercy Dayton operation, we can respond immediately to your request. It typically takes about 90 minutes to call out a crew and have them prepare the aircraft for takeoff. From that point, we fly directly to the airport closest to the patient. We will keep in constant communication with you during this time so that you will know our arrival time precisely.
When you schedule a medical transportation service trip, we will request the following information:To and from locations, sending and receiving doctor information, date and time you would like the patient to travel, and method of payment. We do everything else. We provide a worry-free transport for you so that you can concentrate on other important matters.
A few other options for Med Flight company would be to go commercially on either a commercial escort or a commercial stretcher service.
For your peace of mind, we can definitely supply a doctor onboard. However, we do not typically staff the Aero plane with a doctor. The reason that we don稚 staff the aircraft with a doctor is because our RNs and paramedics are very qualified to deal with all types of patient care including emergency situations. Our medical director, Dr. Paul March is available 24 hours per day to receive calls from the flight crew and to assist their decision making if necessary.
Our patient escort carrier are insured for up to $20,000,000 per occurrence. In addition, we carry medical liability insurance of $1,000,000.
Bedside to bedside is a service that we provide and it includes the ground ambulance transport with medical transportation company. What happens is that ambulance will come and they will pick up our flight crew. They will transport our crew to the hospital where your father is at so that we can initially do a physical assessment of him; we like to have our crew onboard so that we can bring our equipment, transfer your father right onto our equipment, and then load him onto the stretcher. That way we don稚 have to switch your father from the hospital equipment to the ambulance equipment and then onto our equipment; we like to cut out that simple step and make it a little bit more smooth on the patient. And then on the other side when we land as well, we値l have our crew accompany yourself along with the patient into the receiving facility, where once they get there, they値l give the nurses there on duty an update on the patient before we release that patient.
There are a few other alternatives that are generally less expensive than air charter. A few of those options are Amtrak Transport where we would buy a sleeper car on an Amtrak train line. We would supply it with our medical personnel and then what we値l do is our medical personnel will assist and transport your family member by train. Another option would be long-range ground transport, which what we do is we organize an ambulance and we値l be able to staff it with two drivers and also a medical personnel and instead of going by air ambulance, we値l drive them the entire route.
I would highly recommend your transport plane jets to anyone who needed your service. You have the most caring crew I have ever met. They took great care of my grandfather and my mother's flight back home safe and comfortable.
Luggage is limited on Mercy emergency flights due to the significant amount of medical equipment that is carried aboard air ambulances. Luggage generally is limited to three medium pieces in total. Our customers typically ship other non-essential materials prior to the trip.
