Our Flight Coordinators will call your insurance company on your behalf and attempt to obtain pre-authorization. We will submit all Lifeflight companies claim forms and other required documentation. If we are able to obtain an authorization from your insurance company we will not require payment at the time of service.

Insurance most of the times can cover a portion of long distance service. Really the main factor would one--would depend on your insurance coverage itself--if you actually have that coverage or if--if they will pay at a certain percentage. We take all forms of insurance and we’d be more than willing to work with any type of insurance that you have, but the main thing that you really have to--to look at is whether or not it is a covered benefit within your plan and if it is, then we can definitely work with an insurance company.

Upon arrival at the airport, the ambulance pulls right up to the jet and the flight businesses crew transfers the patient to the jet stretcher.

You can be assured that aircraft flying under FAA part 135 regulations such as ours are completely safe for the traveling public. These regulations apply to large commercial airlines as well as StatFlight helicopters.

There’s no extra charge for oxygen; in fact, our aircraft are medically equipped with all advanced life support equipment. So not only will you be supplied with oxygen but medications are supplied at no extra charge, there’s going to be our medical staff at no extra charge, and then we also include, the ground ambulance transport on both sides. It’s included into the Essex Air brokers cost as well. The quote that we give you is the most it will cost you and if we can, we will reduce the quoted price before the trip begins.

For some quotes including those that we require information from the medical desks, or international quotes with multiple stops, it sometimes takes a bit longer. You may pay us after the Airevac services flight. You could pay us either with a wire transfer or a check, but what we will need to do in order to move our aircraft and get our crew ready--we would need to authorize or back it up with a credit card. What we do in that instance is I would get your credit card information, I’d authorize it for the full amount of the flight; there won't be any type of charge on the credit card if you want to pay with a check or with a wire transfer once the trip is completed. We would need to receive that within 24 hours after the flight, and then what we do is we just release the funds off the credit card.

Stable patients may qualify for a less costly form of transport than air ambulance. Call us today to determine if your patient might use a nurse escort trip by airline, long distance ground transport, or Amtrak. Escort trips can offer the patient as much as a 50% savings over the cost of charter international.

The best way to actually explain the Lifeflight companies process to you is just take you through a mock trip. I’ll start from the beginning. Once you call me to start the process, the first thing I do is collect some initial information and give it to my case manager. The case manager will ask additional questions and begin setting up your trip for you. They will call the sending and receiving facilities to confirm information, to make sure that a bed is available and that they’re aware of our schedule.
