Information Sites For Helicopter Billing

Over the years, Emergency Air Ambulance has received many letters from families whose expressions of gratitude for Life Flight jets have touched our staff. You may find those letters in our testimonial section. Our hope is that you may also feel our dedication to our patients:

Our StatFlight services aircraft are staffed with two medical personnel and if it’s a vent patient, it will have a critical care nurse and respiratory therapist who is specially trained to manage the ventilator. We have a ventilator and all ancillary equipment on board our aircraft along with other advanced life support equipment.

An air ambulance is a fixed-wing aircraft with built in stretcher system and fully equipped with Advanced Life Support (ALS) medical equipment and medical personnel to assist in the transport of an ill person from one city to another, regardless of distance for air charter flights.

Our charters planes costs are included within our price. We like to take care of that up front so that as a customer you don’t have to worry about any type of outside charges. When we say we’re going to take care of everything for you, we’re going to include all of the ambulance transport, the cost of the medical crew, and all the equipment and the flight all within the same price. Some companies will include the cost of their medical crew going bedside but not the cost of the ambulances. We include both so that there are no hidden charges that will blindside you afterwards.

Our fuel stops are coordinated to be fast carrier helicopters operations. We call ahead to let our fuelers know of the important passengers on board. They are waiting for us when we arrive and help to turn around the plane in twenty minutes. Typically that is just enough time for a passenger to go for a needed restroom break.

We will transfer your patient with utmost care and services. Recognizing the significant cost of charter service insurance, we will provide you with several cost-effective options. Working with the case manager and the patient's family, we can suggest several medically appropriate transport alternatives of varying price ranges, all which ensure the highest standard of medical care.

We make all arrangements regarding the helicopter billing. This includes having our Medical Director or Medical Crew Supervisor obtain a pre-flight medical consult, arranging ground ambulances at both ends of the flight, ordering in-flight catering, handling insurance paperwork, notifying the receiving hospital of the arrival time and confirming bed availability, as well as any special requests of the family.

Air ambulance in reality can be cheaper than charter because if you take a charter flight it’s taxable and the tax of the flight exceeds the cost of the nurses for a medical flight. However, we do incur costs to ensure the safety of your patient that charter does not have One, charter does not include medical personnel; two, charter does not include any type of medical equipment; and the third thing is generally the coordination that is involved as well is not included with a charter. We’re going to coordinate Sky Flight carrier with both hospital facilities. We’re going to coordinate with ground ambulance companies to be able to pick up your relative and get them to the airport, so all of that extra service is going to be included whereas that would not be the case with the charter.

We fly anywhere in the United States. As long as there is an airport and a 5,000-foot landing strip we can fly there by jet. If it’s shorter than that and you want jet service, then we just fly to the next airport that’s closest to that destination. However, our slower aircraft like turbos and cessnas can fly into smaller airports. And sometimes using slower air medical flight aircraft but going into closer airports saves the total patient transfer time.

There is no charge for additional passengers. In many cases, we can take two passengers. We fly seven days a week and there aren’t additional charge for flying the weekends as well. Many families take advantage of this and patients are comforted by their presence. However, I can assure you that our nurses are well trained to be companions to your patient from the beginning to the end and if you are not able to be on that plane planes, we will take excellent care of them.
