We are competitively priced but the industry is competitive. Generally when we offer Air Care jets for less it is for a good reason. We fly flights at a very high volume because we have a large fleet of aircraft that are at our disposal. We can generally give cheaper prices because we’re generally in a better position than most other companies. When our company is less than another company, it’s sometimes because we’re in a better position to do the trip in terms of geographic area and therefore we pass the savings along to the client. Other times, the higher priced competitors could be brokers tacking on extra fees on that ultimately are paid by you.
While we do not offer additional discounts, I can assure you that when we give a price, we try to price as low as we can knowing that the price of air ambulance is considerable. You will find our Aero transport planes prices very competitive. In addition, we are always attempting to find back-haul discounts for you. We also can quote a different style of aircraft or if you prefer to go with one of the other types of alternative transports via Amtrak or with a commercial escort.
For a facility to accept the patient and assign him a bed, a receiving doctor typically has to call admissions. First a facility must be chosen. If you need help in doing that, we can assist. If you have determined which facility you want to bring the patient to, the next step is to determine who will be the receiving doctor. If you have a primary physician that practices there, have her call the facility and ask for admissions. If you need help in getting a physician, we can help you. Admissions will assign a doctor if a little bit is known about the Life Flight medevac patient. You need to have the doctors speak so that the receiving facility will accept that patient. We can assist in facilitating that if necessary. We sometimes need to follow up to ensure that the receiving doctor is aware that she needs to call. But we will manage the process to make sure that it all gets done for you.
For inter-facility transports under two hundred miles, Aircare air and ground transports is not always cost effective. In addition, some non-critical patients prefer the cost savings of longer distance ground transport. In these instances, Emergency Air Ambulance will transport the patient comfortably, providing skilled medical care, at a cost significantly below that of air transportation.
We are a medicare provider. Unfortunately in the vast majority of cases Medicare does not pay for air ambulance trips or Aeromed. They have a two part process for determining if a case will be reimbursed. The first part is the easier of the two. Medicare will determine if your patient must go by air ambulance if they are to travel at all. In many cases, medical necessity can be proven. However, the second part is much harder to win. Medicare will determine if the patient is receiving adequate care where they are. If the answer is no, then Medicare will pay to transfer the patient to a facility that will provide adequate care but in most cases that facility is in the same town. We would be happy to submit your claim to Medicare for you however.
