Care Flight Jets Information

It’s part of our protocol to have two medical personnel on each air ambulance service air ambulances flight for most cases. If, after the medical report is completed, our chief flight nurse concludes that only one is required, she will confer with the medical director, and at that point we may be able to reduce to one nurse and pass the savings on to our client.

The best way to actually explain the Care Flight flight process to you is just take you through a mock trip. I’ll start from the beginning. Once you call me to start the process, the first thing I do is collect some initial information and give it to my case manager. The case manager will ask additional questions and begin setting up your trip for you. They will call the sending and receiving facilities to confirm information, to make sure that a bed is available and that they’re aware of our schedule. The case manager gives information to our Medical Director, who obtains a full medical report from the attending doctor or hospital. He then determines the type of medical personnel we need to have onboard. Once that’s established, our case manager completes setting up the trip and prepares a full itinerary for the family, They go over times and other important information with you and also send you a full itinerary in writing that repeats everything that you talked about. On the day of the transport itself, your case manager will manage the trip to ensure that everything goes smoothly. She will make about 20 calls to everyone in the Care Flight flight process. Our medical team will go into the hospital to evaluate the patient. Then they ride out to the plane with the patient in the ambulance. The ambulance comes right to the plane. We then load the patient plus the passengers into the plane, and go over safety issues with everyone before taking off. Once we get into the receiving airport, there’ll be another ambulance there on the runway waiting to take the crew and patient to the receiving facility. At the receiving facility, we do a direct admit to the patient’s bed, reconnecting the patient to the hospital’s equipment. We then go over the trip report with the nurses at the hospital prior to departing. Once the nurses are satisfied and take over care of the patient, then we depart. So that’s kind of like in a nutshell the best way to actually explain the whole process.

Family members may travel without charge. The number of passengers is based on the aircraft chosen, the patients health, and the length of the flight. Our planes may accept between 1-3 passengers for service program.

We provide a complete patient transportation flight service for you. Including medical evaluation, commercial clearance, scheduling, ticketing, ground transportation, coordination between sending and receiving facilities, and trip reports.

Unfortunately in the vast majority of cases Medicare does not pay for air ambulance trips or service companies. They have a two part process for determining if a case will be reimbursed.

Ground transportation as well as all other costs are usually included in our quotes. Emergency Air Ambulance will provide you with a written quote that includes all patient escort carriers costs unless specifically omitted by customer request. When comparing us to others, please request a quote in writing from other vendors for your protection.
