We are competitively priced but the industry is competitive. Generally when we offer patient transportation escorts for less it is for a good reason. We fly flights at a very high volume because we have a large fleet of aircraft that are at our disposal. We can generally give cheaper prices because we’re generally in a better position than most other companies. When our company is less than another company, it’s sometimes because we’re in a better position to do the trip in terms of geographic area and therefore we pass the savings along to the client. Other times, the higher priced competitors could be brokers tacking on extra fees on that ultimately are paid by you.

With a general discharge, all that is needed is coordination with the Stat Flight, the sending facility and the family. With a discharge to a an equal facility or to a step-down facility, additional steps are required. The doctor at the sending facility needs to speak to a doctor at the receiving facility. The receiving doctor accepts responsibility for the patient and calls admissions at the receiving facility to get a bed assignment. Admissions will take responsibility for the patient and will accept the patient. Sometimes there is difficulty in trying to get the doctors to communicate in a timely fashion. But what we can do a lot to assist in that, to coordinate and facilitate having them to speak to each other. If the sending facility will not discharge the patient, we can transport them AMA. However, it is imperative in that situation that a receiving doctor and facility accept the patient prior to the transport.
The Sky Flight escorts jet departs for the receiving hospital's airport. During the flight, the flight coordinator tracked the jet's progress on the computer, and call ahead to the receiving ambulance and hospital to alert them.
